GONDBA Meeting Minutes

July 27, 2011


Networking began at 11:30 A.M. at the Action Sportscenter located at 1103 Gateway Dr. Lunch sponsored by GONDBA!

Barry Hall, President, called the meeting to order.

Reminder: Annual membership dues are $100.00. Please make check payable to Greater Old North Dayton Business Association (GONDBA) and mail to GONDBA   P.O.  Box 193  Dayton, OH  45404

Barry announced that Yuh Chen Yu from PNC Bank (formally the secretary of GONDBA) will be the new GONDBA Treasurer effective immediately. Thanks to Donna Poland from Key Bank for all your hard work. You will be missed!

There was no treasurer's report this month.  GONDBA will be electing a new Secretary.

Crime Emergency Notification System-One Call Now has been updated from 129  to 481 names and numbers of local residences and businesses for the Dayton Police Department.

Mary Beth Haug (membership rep.) has enrolled two new members. Action Sportscenter, and Professional Maintenance of Dayton.  Welcome New Members!!

August is PNC Bank Month!  More information to follow!

Sgt McCune gave updated crime update.  City wide crime is down 20%. Northern area down 7.5%.

Dayton City Manager Tim Riordan was the guest speaker.

Mr. Riordan discussed further cuts for the future.  2011 budget is less than the 1995 budget. Cuts will have to be made.

City of Dayton will loose 9.5 million dollars from the State in the next 2 to 3 years. Stimulus grants run out in 2012 for police officers.

Emphasis will be placed on the Private Sector for the future.

Update on the Race track at the Delco Moriane Plant:

1. There will be a court case by "anti gambling" committees

2. They will have to obtain a "Right to Move" from Columbus to Dayton.

3. This facility could create 1000 jobs with an average income of $35,000.00

In the last 4 or 5 years the state has lowered the tax rate.  There have been no incentive's by citizens to raise the city tax.

Tech Towne Progress:  Third building is now under construction.

Recycling: Discussions on incentives to recycle more in the residential areas. Contributions, have drawings for residents chosen at random to receive an "Incentive" prize to recycle more. The Recycle Bank tracked by placing an RFD code on each recycling trash bin.   No business recycling being offered currently.

Action Sportscenter gave all the members a tour of their facility.  Great atmosphere for family fun, and all sports enthusiast.
