GONDBA Meeting Minutes June 25, 2008 Lunch and networking started at 11:30. Lunch was provided by Industrial Fiberglass Specialties. Meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM by Barry Hall, our President and introductions of attendees were made. Randy Beane, President of the Dayton Police Athletic League was our first speaker. He wanted to give us some information on the organization and ask for donations that could be given in the form of money, supplies, (such as wheel barrows, shovels, rakes) or even volunteer time. Donationas can be sent to Dayton Police Athletic League, 335 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio or Randy can be reached at 333-2134. Barry Hall wanted to remind us of the Community Picnic on July 24, 2008, sponsored by the Salvation Army and the City of Dayton. The picnic is at Claridge Park from 5-8 PM. They need businesses to set up booths and also volunteers to help run the games. Contact Amber Rose for details. Barry gave us an update on the new Kroc Center. Per Reggie Winters, construction is still planned and we should see some activity there in the next 60 days. Sgt. McCune gave us a brief update and said that all crime was down in the area from last year with the exception of assault, which stats are leveling off. Barry gave us an update on Chris Mills. Chris was sentenced to 18 months in prison and was released to get his affairs in order to report to prison on July 14th. Since then, Charlie’s has been broken into twice. Our Guest speaker was Phil Parker, President, Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. He spoke on the Chamber’s five top priorities which include: Workforce, Transportation, Business Support, Business Retention and Expansion, and Public Policy and then opened the floor to questions. Gary Peck and Jerry Arnst gave us another look at the new GONDBA website and also introduced some new programs being started.
Bruce Brenner updated us on some new tax laws concerning mileage reimbursement. Starting July 1, 2008, IRS will pay $0.585 per mile. Barry told us that the Monday Program facility tour was scheduled for July 14, 2007. All interested should sign up at the desk with Pam Hall or call Barry.
